This page explains how content on Paycheck Calculator Canada is produced, checked, corrected, and kept independent. It is the standard every page on this site is held to.
Human-written and human-reviewed
Every article, guide, and worked example on this site is written and reviewed by the Paycheck Calculator Team. We do not publish content written entirely by software without human review. Calculators are tested by hand against official figures before they go live: we run real salaries through each tool and compare the output line by line with CRA, Revenu Québec, and provincial ministry tables.
How we verify a figure before it goes live
Tax brackets, basic personal amounts, CPP/QPP and EI rates, and minimum wage figures change every year. Before any figure is published, it passes three checks: it is read directly from an official government source, it is calculated independently against that source, and it is tested inside the relevant calculator. Quebec figures get an extra check because the 16.5% federal abatement, QPP, and QPIP are easy to get wrong. The full process is documented on our Sources & Methodology page.
Corrections
When we find an error, we fix it and record the correction. The Contact Us page explains what to include when reporting a calculation that looks wrong: the province you selected, the income and pay frequency you entered, and the result you expected. We investigate every genuine report against the official 2026 figures and correct anything that is actually wrong. We never bump a page’s “last updated” date unless its content genuinely changed.
Independence from advertising
Advertising never influences our figures. No advertiser, sponsor, or partner can change a tax rate, a calculator result, or an editorial conclusion on this site. We do not publish sponsored content or paid reviews. If the site displays advertising, it exists only to support the free tools; the editorial standard above applies regardless.
What we are not
This site is an independent reference tool, not a substitute for professional advice. We cannot give personalized tax, legal, or financial advice, review your tax return, or act on your behalf with the CRA. For advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed accountant or payroll professional, or contact the CRA directly. See our Disclaimer for the full statement.
Updates
Tax-year figures are refreshed each year when the CRA, Revenu Québec, and the provinces publish new rates. Pages that carry a worked example are re-verified against the current year’s numbers before the update is marked complete.
